Reflethics

The Human Values in Healthcare Forum is offering a confidential, supportive space to reflect on situations or encounters in the clinical workplace which have created moral disquiet or perplexity. You may also have experienced a conflict between your own values and those that the organisation or circumstances demanded of you.

These monthly lunchtime drop-in on-line conversations will be facilitated by two experienced facilitators with clinical ethics and educational backgrounds. Find out more about the facilitators below.

Aim of Reflethics

The aim is to share perspectives, to clarify thinking and to increase confidence in dealing with clinical-ethical situations in the future. Empirical evidence has shown that facilitated ethics conversations can be protective towards moral distress and injury.

Reflethics is NOT about offering therapy or a training in ethics. Nor will it provide ‘right or wrong’ answers. The aim is to offer a non-judgmental, yet constructive and supportive approach.

The facilitators will signpost you to other resources should this be appropriate.

Who Reflethics is for

We are keen to foster a multi-disciplinary learning and sharing environment, therefore Healthcare Professionals from all disciplines are very welcome to join.

Participation

The facilitators shall ensure that everyone has the opportunity to participate, but you can choose whether you wish to speak or simply listen.

There is no need for preparation, but it would be helpful if you can reflect beforehand on a case or situation you wish to talk about.

We will be asking if you would be willing to offer your feedback after around 3 months. This will mean giving us your permission for us to store your email address.

Latecomers will not be admitted.

There will be strict ground rules regarding confidentiality and mutual respect.

The sessions will not be recorded.

Bookings

Tickets must be booked in advance.

Numbers are limited to 10 per session. If the session you wish to join is full, you can add your name to our waiting list. We will notify you as soon as a place becomes available.

The deadline for bookings is 8.00am on the event date.

Cost

Places are free, although as a small charity we rely entirely on donations for our funding. If you would like to support us by giving a small donation to help us run more events such as these, please visit our website and select ‘donations’ on the home page. We suggest a donation of £10 per session.
