Conference Report: 14th World Conference on Bioethics, Medical Ethics and Health Law 2022

Bi-Weekly Round Up: 23rd August 2021
This week, we choose to revisit the tragic plight of Alta Fixsler and her family in attempting to make a decision regarding continuing life sustaining treatment and discuss the issues of medical futility and treatment undertaken in a child’s best interests. This case raises important ethical and moral considerations when attempting to make a decision regarding whether to continue treatment, particularly in children with severe disabilities and poor prognosis.

Review: IME Student Conference 2020
The IME Student Conference 'Ethical Considerations in the Pursuit of Perfection' took place on Saturday 8th February 2020 at Leeds Medical School. Organised by the IME Student Council, the conference also included the National Student Debate Final (Leeds v Sheffield) and judging of The Mark Brennan Poster Prize.
