Announcement from Centre for Ethics in Medicine, Bristol Medical School

Intercalated BSc Healthcare Ethics & Law 2025-26 (iBSc HEAL)

By lorrainep · March 17, 2025

Medical students are invited to apply for the intercalated BSc Healthcare Ethics and Law programme 2025-26 (iBSc HEAL). The one-year course offers a unique opportunity for students to expand their horizons and acquire valuable skills beyond clinical medicine. This innovative programme is designed specifically for intercalating medical, dental and veterinary students. It provides a solid foundation for those curious about ethics and law in practice, and who wish to take a leading role in their profession.

As a healthcare professional you will be required to formulate reasoned moral judgments that are justifiable to your patients, the public, your colleagues, and yourself. In this course, you will grapple with real-life contentious issues that provoke differing opinions and challenge established philosophical concepts and legal principles. You will gain in-depth knowledge of contemporary ethical issues, and will develop your skills in reasoning, group deliberation, conference presentation, peer-teaching and writing for publication.

If you are seeking a well-rounded education that goes beyond the traditional clinical focus, find out more about iBSc HEAL here.

The closing date for making an application is 29th May 2025.

We would also like to invite you to meet the iBSc HEAL teaching team and current iBSc HEAL students at the Intercalation Fair being held in Bristol on 2nd April (2-5pm).
